LEVEL ONE		$395

A four-week course in which you will learn the different genres of solo shows, and master the Basics of powerful storytelling, fascinating character monologues, and hilarious rants through in-class improv and writing exercises and take-home assignments. By the end of this class, you will have a strong, solid premise for your solo show.

LEVEL TWO		$595

A seven-week Advanced workshop (includes one private coaching session) in which you develop a premise from Level One into a directed, rehearsed, polished 15-minute solo show. Class size is limited to provide each student with the maximum personal attention. Class ends in a public performance for invited family and friends in a theatre space. (Class size: 5 students.)


PLAYWRITING 101		$595

A seven-week class culminating in a staged reading of your play by professional actors in a theater space! You’ll read and study short plays by famous playwrights for inspiration, learn the elements of storytelling and character development through fun improv games and take home writing assignments – and you'll write a monologue, and two ten-minute plays! (Or the first several scenes of a longer play!) (Class size will be small to allow every student the chance to read in every class.) Taught by Matt Hoverman, winner of the 2006 FringeNYC Outstanding Playwrighting Award, and co-writer of THE AUDIENCE (Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding New Musical).


Private Coaching
Matt Hoverman is available for private coaching to help develop the writing and/or direct the performance of your solo show. (Matt is also available to coach actors on auditions.)
